Elizabeth Shade is completing a Master of Science in Geochemistry at the University of Cincinnati, where her research examines how light interacts with diamond crystal lattices. Elizabeth’s academic work is grounded in more than a decade at the bench as a trained jeweler. She has extensive experience in custom design and fabrication, repair, micro laser welding, jewelry restoration, and complex mountings. This hands-on background informs her scientific perspective and allows her to connect advanced geochemical principles to real-world bench practice.

She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Cincinnati, is a Graduate Gemologist of the Gemological Institute of America, and is a certified gemologist and appraiser. Her interdisciplinary training enables her to integrate materials science, gemology, and human factors into a cohesive understanding of jewelry at both the microscopic and practical levels.
